What industry means

As has been stated previously, industry is the process of using Blueprints to turn raw materials into a finished product. These products are either the end item (ships, modules, etc) or just another stage in the production line.
Perhaps I have enjoyed doing this process in online games because I enjoyed activities such as LEGOs and Erector Sets when I was young. In EVE online, ships are produced such that other people can do what else there is to do in EVE: Logistics, pirating, PvP, etc.
The logistics is only part of this industry process. The acquisition of materials is vital to allow production to continue. These materials are obtained through trading, 'market PvP', mining, etc.
A useful site for obtaining prices and material availability is www.eve-central.com, a website dedicated to market availability and is maintained by a dedicated EVE Online player.
